(Manama, Bahrain, 21 October 2013) McLaren Automotive today confirmed two incredible new cars will make a Middle East public debut at the Dubai International Motor Show 2013. This will be the next generation ultimate supercar, the McLaren P1™, and the latest track-only 12C GT Sprint.
Also showcased at the event, which is held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from November 5th -9th, will be the award-winning McLaren 12C and 12C Spider high performance sports cars for the road.
The incredible and eagerly anticipated McLaren P1™ has a clear goal – to be the best driver’s car in the world on road and on track. To achieve this objective, McLaren is using all of its 50 years of racing experience and success, especially in the fields of aerodynamics and lightweight carbon fibre technology.
The result is a car that features technologies that have never before been applied to a road car, and enable the owner to drive the car to a race track, then press a button and race it.
The latest ‘ultimate’ car from McLaren also features IPAS (Instant Power Assist System) – with a 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine coupled to a lightweight electric motor that produces more than double the power of the KERS unit used in Formula 1™. The McLaren P1™ was designed using the same aerodynamic systems and technology as a Formula 1 car, and through a bespoke system developed by technical partner Akebono, delivers braking performance a step ahead of any ‘supersports’ car sold today, featuring the same materials used on the Ariane space rocket programme
The McLaren P1™ will be more exclusive than its competitors, with only 375 examples to be built, and deliveries to customers in the Middle East will start by the end of 2013 – the 50th anniversary of McLaren.
The McLaren 12C GT Sprint is a track-only variant of the 12C, which bridges the gap between the 12C, itself fully accomplished on both road and track, and the all-out racing 12C GT3 and 12C GT Can-Am Edition models. The 12C GT Sprint has been designed and built by McLaren GT, the GT race car building arm of the McLaren Group, priced from GBP £195,000* and is available from all official McLaren retailers in the Middle East.
Also on display will be the debut high performance sports car for the road from McLaren Automotive, the 12C (launched in 2011) and the 12C Spider – a convertible model, which unlike most other convertibles, offers the same performance, handling and driver enjoyment as the fixed-roof coupé version.
Product specialists will be available on the McLaren stand to answer any questions about these groundbreaking high performance sports cars and the innovative new technologies they are fitted with.
McLaren Automotive is celebrating 50 years of innovation and race winning success in 2013.  Following the launch of the first McLaren Automotive retailer in the Middle East two years ago, the region has already established a loyal customer base and following of fans.  Since 2011, McLaren Automotive has opened six retailers across the Middle East located in Manama, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Jeddah, Riyadh and Kuwait, with a Doha retailer planned to open early in 2014.
Ian Gorsuch, Regional Director for Middle East and Africa commented: “We are very proud to be able to showcase the full range of innovative and groundbreaking high performance sports cars for the road to Middle East supercar fans for the first time and displaying all three cars together is a example of how quickly we have grown as a business in just two years. We are fast becoming more than a supercar for people who love cars – we are part of a lifestyle.”

Event delegates can visit McLaren Automotive at The Dubai International Motor Show 2013 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, Sheikh Saeed Hall, Stand SS120.
